POL321. Japanese Government and Politics (4cr)
Starting with the pre-war political system and the post-war Allied Occupation, the course focuses on the 1955 system and new developments since 1993. Topics include the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP); bureaucracy; interest groups; Diet and elections; decision-making and public policy; industrial policy; welfare; and political and administrative reform.
